Jolie appeared in a white dress at the premiere of Maleficent 2 in Tokyo, Japan

"Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" held its premiere in Tokyo, Japan yesterday. Angelina Jolie appeared in a white dress, overlapping with the silhouette of the character Maleficent played on the big screen behind her. Sam Riley, who played Mr. Crow in the film, and Japanese singer and actor Takaya Ishihara, who played Udo, also appeared together.

Maleficent 2 is set several years after the original Maleficent in 2014, with the relationship between Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning) and Maleficent more complicated, and a new threat to the once cursed princess. The relationship between Aurora and Maleficent, born of heartbreak and revenge, eventually blossoms into love. But the princess' engagement to Prince Phillip (Harris Dickinson, replacing Brenton Thwaites in the first film) will also be a major plot turning point.

Maleficent 2 is directed by Joachim Rönning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales). The story is inspired not only by Disney's own 1959 classic animation Sleeping Beauty, but also by Charles Perrault's original French novel. The film will be released in Japan on October 18, and will also be released in North America and China on the same day.
