The original author of "The Witcher" once hinted that the bard in the play will not be as dominant as Huang's guest appearance in "Game of Thrones"

There are two popular fantasy TV series in 2019, one is the eighth season of Game of Thrones, and the other is the recently aired Netflix's The Witcher. The last season of HBO's Game of Thrones did not meet the expectations of most fans, while Netflix's The Witcher is one of the most successful TV series this year, and it has also rekindled everyone's interest in the original books and games. Of course, the audience can't help but compare the two TV series.

Netflix's "The Witcher" is based on the novel by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, while "Game of Thrones" is based on the novel of the same name by George R. Martin. Although both are fantasy themes, the two TV series are very different. At the Warsaw Comic Con before the broadcast, the original author Andrzej Sapkowski seemed to have made some hints about the "Witcher" TV series.

Andrzej Sapkowski: "As a creative consultant on this TV show, I feel it's my job to make sure there's no scene like when Ed Sheeran sang in Game of Thrones. I'll make sure that doesn't happen. I promise."

Andrzej Sapkowski's comments were in response to Wong's cameo in Game of Thrones Season 7, in which Wong played a Lannister soldier who started singing by the campfire after Arya met him. Because Wong's performance in that episode was so outstanding, many fans complained that his character was too distracting and affected the performance of the rest of the episode.

Although Huang did not make a guest appearance in the first season of "The Witcher" this time, the bard Jaskier in the show was also very outstanding. He is Geralt's friend, and this character was also welcomed by the audience and did not "steal the show" like Huang did.

All in all, Andrzej Sapkowski's words were not directed at anyone in particular, but they had a sarcastic effect.

Netflix's The Witcher has been renewed for season 2 and will begin filming on February 17, 2020.
