Tom Holland responds to Martin Scorsese's statement that Marvel is not a movie: You don't understand Marvel movies

According to foreign media reports, Tom Holland, who continues to be popular due to Spider-Man: No Homecoming, responded to director Martin Scorsese's previous statement that "Marvel movies are not real movies but theme parks" in an interview. Tom Holland said: "You can ask Scorsese if he wants to make a Marvel movie, but he doesn't know what a comic book movie is because he has never made one.

Holland said that he has shot both Marvel movies and Oscar-winning films, and the only difference is that the former costs more than the latter, but the way of understanding the role and the way the director portrays the plot and the character image are the same. "When you shoot a big-budget movie, you know that whether it is good or bad, there will be thousands of people watching it; when you shoot a small-budget independent film, if it is not very good, then it is likely that no one will care, so the pressure brought by the two is different."

It is understood that the Academy has always been biased against popular series of movies. So far, only one movie, "Black Panther", has been nominated for the Best Picture at the Oscars. Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, also said: "Isn't it good for the audience to stand up and cheer? Isn't it good for the audience to shed tears? I think it's great. This is what movies are for. This is what the Academy recognized when it was founded in the past. The Academy should not forget its original intention."
