Sony and Square Enix team up to create Final Fantasy live-action TV series

The evergreen RPG series "Final Fantasy", which has attracted much attention from the industry, is about to land on the TV screen. Sony Television, Square Enix and production company Hivemind (which has produced "The Expanse" for Amazon and is currently producing "The Witcher" series for Netflix) recently announced that the company will work together to create a live-action TV series of "Final Fantasy". This time the story is set in the continent of Eorzea. It is an original plot and introduces the setting of "Final Fantasy 14" (Eorzea is also the continent where the plot of the game version of Final Fantasy 14 takes place).

Jason F. Brown (The Expanse), Sean Daniel (The Mummy series), and Dinesh Shamdasani (Sony Pictures' upcoming Blood Warden) will produce for Hivemind. Ben Lustig and Jack Thornton are writing the series and will serve as executive producers. Hivemind is also currently working on a game adaptation TV series, The Witcher, for Netflix with producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. Hivemind has reached a preliminary agreement with Amazon Studios for event television projects.

The new series will incorporate characters and elements from the Final Fantasy series, which spans 32 years, 15 mainline works, and more than 36 standalone works. Although the specific plot of the new TV series has not yet been announced, it will explore "the struggle between magic and technology to bring peace to the land in conflict." (This is also the theme of most of the Final Fantasy series, especially 14)

Iconic elements of Final Fantasy, such as magic, airships, and of course, chocobos, will be included in the new TV series. Familiar faces and names from the FF series (including a certain Cid who has appeared in almost every FF game) will appear.
