Nicolas Cage has no interest in joining the Star Wars universe

We've seen Nicolas Cage play a variety of roles, but fans shouldn't expect him to play a Jedi Knight. Cage recently participated in his first interview in 2023 to promote his new Western film "The Old Ways". In an interview with Yahoo reporter Kevin Polowy, Cage was asked if he was interested in joining the "Star Wars" universe. Surprisingly, Cage bluntly said he was not interested.

He said: "The answer is no. I'm a Star Trek fan. I love Star Trek. I'm on the Enterprise. That's what I do. I'm not part of the Star Wars family. I'm part of the Star Trek family. "

Cage went on to talk about his love for Star Trek, which dates back to watching the classic original series (starring William Shatner), as well as the more modern films starring Chris Pine. Cage also explained what he most admires about science fiction films, and how he feels Star Trek captures those elements better than Star Wars.

"That's the truth. I grew up watching Shatner. I think Pine is great in the movies. I think the movies are great. I love the political ones, and the social ones... To me, what's really about science fiction, and why it's such an important genre, is that it's where you can say whatever you want, whatever you feel. You put it on a different planet, in a different time, or in the future, and you can do that without somebody jumping on you. You can really express your ideas... and Star Trek is like that. I think they touch on some serious stuff."
