Destroyer actor: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be my last time playing this role

Drax the Destroyer star Dave Bautista has admitted that he is relieved his days as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy are over as he is eager to move on to more serious roles.

The wrestler-turned-actor told GQ that he is deeply grateful for the MCU role, but confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be his last time playing Drax the Destroyer as he now feels ready to say goodbye to the character.

"I'm grateful for Drax. I love him. But it's a relief [that it's over]. It wasn't all pleasant. It was hard to play that role. The makeup process brought me down. I just didn't know if I wanted Drax to be my legacy — it was a silly show, and I wanted to do more dramatic things."

Dave Bautista has played Drax in 6 movies and the Disney+ Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special, but he is more eager to show the versatility of his acting skills. In an interview, Dave expressed his desire to work more closely with director Denis Villeneuve. It is worth mentioning that Dave has worked with director Denis Villeneuve in the movies "Dune" and "Blade Runner 2049".

"If I was Denis' number one caller, I'd do it for free. I think that's how I'm going to find out how good I am. He brings out the best in me. He sees me in a different light and sees the performer I want to be. That's probably how I'm going to figure it out."

I never thought about being the next Dwayne Johnson, I just wanted to be a good actor, a respectable actor
