The TV animation "Made in Abyss" is adapted from the manga of the same name by Akito Dobi, produced by KINEMA CITRUS, and announced on December 21, 2016. The sequel film "Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul" was released in Japan on January 17, 2020.

Background:

In a world where every corner has been explored, the only remaining secret is the large cave "Abyss". The huge vertical cave, which is bottomless and extends to who knows where, is inhabited by strange creatures and contains precious relics that cannot be made by modern humans. The mysterious appearance of "Abyss" attracts people and drives them to adventure. In this way, adventurers who have challenged the large cave many times have been named "cave explorers" one after another.

Rico, an orphan living in the town of Oos, built on the edge of the abyss, dreams of becoming a great cave explorer like her mother and solving the mysteries of the abyss. One day, while exploring the abyss, Rico picks up a robot that looks like a boy...?
