Sony's Spider-Man universe will film a villain hypnotic trickster

Sony's new Spider-Man Universe film is coming. Donald Glover will star and produce an untitled film focusing on the little-known villain Hypno-Hustler. Miles Murphy, son of Eddie Murphy, is the screenwriter and it is currently in the early development stage.

In the comics, the Hypnotist Trickster's real name is Antoine Deslon, and he is the lead singer of a band that performs in nightclubs and uses hypnotic equipment to rob audience members. The Hypnotist Trickster can hypnotize people with the help of a guitar, and can perform mass hypnosis when working with a band. The headphones protect him from the effects of his own hypnotic music, and his boots can release a gas that makes people faint as needed, and have retractable knives on the soles of his shoes.

The hypnotic trickster doesn't occupy a place among the many well-known Spider-Man villains, and even often appears on the worst super villain lists, but Glover has inspired his musical skills and has no Marvel baggage, which gives him the freedom to try bigger things. This project could be a disco-era work, a reimagined modern hip-hop film, a cyberpunk future drama, etc.

Glover had a brief cameo in Spider-Man: Homecoming, with deleted scenes showing him playing Miles Morales' uncle. He also voiced Miles Morales in the Disney animated series Ultimate Spider-Man.
