Thor: Thor 5 will be my last movie and it has to be completely different

Recently, Chris Hemsworth said that if there is a Thor 5 movie, then this movie must be completely different. He said: "I think it must be completely different in tone from the previous ones, and everything is just for my own sanity."

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Hemsworth noted that the first two Thor movies were very similar, and then the third and fourth installments in the series, directed by Taika Waititi, were also similar, though with a very different tone than the first two.

Thor explained: "I've said it before, when it becomes too familiar, I think there's a price to pay for being lazy, because I know what I'm doing. I don't know if I'll be invited back by Marvel, but if I am, I think it's going to have to be completely different in tone than before, all just for my own sanity. Thor lost his mind last time, and he has to figure it out now."

Although Thor has said in the past that he will always play Thor, he recently admitted that the fifth movie will be his last (Thor was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease). Like Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and Chris Evans' Captain America, Thor's end is inevitable.

"It makes sense to me. I feel like it could be the finale, but it's not based on anything that anybody told me or any kind of plan. You have the birth of the hero, the hero's journey, and then the hero's death, and I don't know - am I at that stage? Who knows?"
