HBO's 'White Lotus Resort' officially renewed for third season

HBO has renewed White Lotus, the unexpectedly successful satirical comedy that follows guests and employees of a fictional luxury resort chain. All that is known about Season 3 is that it will be set in a new location and feature a new cast.

“There’s no better place for me to work than HBO,” said creator, writer and director Mike White. “I’m so lucky to have this opportunity again and I’m so excited to reunite with my talented collaborators on White Lotus.”

After three of the seven episodes aired, it was renewed for Season 3. Season 1 took place in Hawaii, while Season 2 was set in Sicily. The cast of Season 2 included Aubrey Plaza, F. Murray Abraham, Michael Imperioli, Adam DiMarco, Theo James, Meghann Fahy, Haley Lu Richardson, and Will Sharpe.

“Given the humble, on-the-go origins of ‘White Lotus Resort’ as a pandemic production, it’s impossible not to be struck by how Mike has orchestrated one of the most in-demand, critically acclaimed shows ever,” said Francesca Orsi, HBO Executive Vice President, Programming and Head of HBO TV Series and Movies. “And yet, he only continues to reach new heights in Season 2, which is the ultimate testament to Mike’s raw, unparalleled vision. His fearless exploration of uncharted territories of the human psyche, coupled with his signature irreverent humor and bubbly directorial style, has us all dreaming of more vacations at our favorite resorts. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work together on Season 3.”

White Lotus Season 1 premiered in July 2021 and quickly became a favorite among critics and fans. The series received 20 Emmy nominations and 10 wins.
