The prequel series "The Continental" of the hit action movie "John Wick" will premiere in 2023. According to DEADLINE, the series will be exclusively broadcast on Amazon's streaming service Prime Video in all regions except some. The series, produced by Lionsgate's TV drama division, was originally planned to be broadcast on the Starz streaming service in the United States, but later moved to Peacock. The Continental will explore the origin story and inner workings of the most famous location in the John Wick universe. It is both a refuge for the killers and the heart of the John Wick universe. The story will be told from the perspective of the hotel's manager, with actor Colin Woodell playing the younger version of Winston Scott, played by Ian McShane in the film version. In the series, the audience will follow Winston's perspective and witness the daily life of the gang in New York in the 1970s. He will fight against the dark history of his own district and try to take control of this iconic hotel - it is a gathering place for the most dangerous criminals in the world. In addition to Colin Woodell, the cast includes Ayomide Adegun as the young version of Charon (the hotel receptionist), Peter Greene as "Uncle Charlie", Mel Gibson as Cormac, Ben Robson as Frankie, Hubert Point-Du Jour as Miles, Jessica Alllain as Lou, Mishel Prada as KD and Nhung Kate as Yen. The film's star Keanu Reeves is not expected to appear in the series. |
