Ghibli President confirms that Hayao Miyazaki's new work "How Do You Live?" is about to be completed

According to Japanese media reports, Studio Ghibli President Koji Hoshino revealed at the opening ceremony of the Ghibli Exhibition Tour today (October 28) that the new feature-length animation "How Do You Want to Live?" supervised by Hayao Miyazaki is about to be completed.

Koji Hoshino said that Mr. Hayao Miyazaki's new feature-length animation is progressing steadily, and he has overcome the anxiety of whether it will be late. The finished product of the new work is just around the corner and is nearing completion, which makes people very happy. The release of the movie is just around the corner.

Director Hayao Miyazaki announced his retirement after the release of the film "The Wind Rises" in 2013, and announced his comeback in 2017. This is his first work after his comeback. It is adapted from the novel of the same name published by Genzaburo Yoshino in 1937. The film was originally scheduled to be released during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Japan, but was postponed due to production progress issues and is currently expected to be released in 2023.

"What Kind of Life Do You Want to Live" tells the story of a 15-year-old boy who, under the guidance of his uncle, a college graduate, explores the inevitable topics in life such as friendship, wealth, discrimination, bullying, courage, etc., in order to find out "the value of what makes people human."
