Kenneth Branagh is filming another installment in the Agatha Christie Hercule Poirot series, with the producer set to direct and star in The Ghosts of Venice, which is inspired by Christie's 1969 book The Halloween Party. Branagh will continue to play the role of the great detective Poirot, who he played in the previous two works of the series, "Murder on the Orient Express" and "Death on the Nile". Michael Green, the screenwriter of "Logan", will be responsible for the script of the new film. The film production is scheduled to begin next month and will be released in 2023. In addition to Branagh, the film's cast will also include Tina Fey, Michelle Yeoh, Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly and Riccardo Scamarico. The synopsis of the new film is as follows: "Set in a chilling post-World War II Venice on Halloween, The Ghosts of Venice is a terrifying mystery that follows the return of renowned detective Hercule Poirot. Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world's most enchanting city, Poirot reluctantly attends a seance held in a dilapidated, haunted palace. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets." |
