Planet of the Apes begins filming in Australia, to be released in North America in 2024

Recently, the sci-fi movie "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" announced that it would start filming, and is currently being filmed at the Disney studio in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is reported that the film is the fourth installment in the "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" series, and the story timeline is set many years after the end of "War for the Planet of the Apes". The film is expected to be released in North America in 2024.

"Planet of the Apes" is directed by Wes Ball, the director of the "Maze Runner" series, with Owen Teague playing the ape protagonist, and Freya Allan and Peter Macon co-starring. Josh Friedman, Patrick Eisen and the previous screenwriters Rick Jaffe and Amanda Silver wrote the script together.

The "Planet of the Apes" series has grossed over $1.7 billion worldwide. Adapted from the novel by Pierre Boulle, the first film was a huge success in 1968, followed by four sequels and two TV series. Tim Burton directed the 2001 reboot "Rise of the Planet of the Apes", and the latest version is the "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" film trilogy that began in 2011.
