220 million! Disney's total streaming subscriptions surpass Netflix

According to foreign media reports, the total number of subscribers of Disney's streaming media (Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu) has reached 221 million, surpassing Netflix's 220.7 million, making it the world's largest streaming company. Among them, Disney+ has 137.7 million, Hulu has 45.6 million, and ESPN+ has 22.3 million.

Unlike Netflix, which has lost subscribers in the last two fiscal quarters, Disney's three streaming platforms have been growing. In the third quarter conference call, they also announced that they would renew their contract with CEO Bob Chapek for three years, and the latter will "take charge" of Disney until 2025.

In order to attract more users, Disney decided to implement a package service including advertisements starting from December 8:

• Disney+ Basic (with ads) — $7.99/month

• Disney+ Premium (no ads) — $10.99/month

• Hulu Basic (with ads) — $7.99/month

• Hulu Premium (no ads) — $14.99/month
