The new film directed by "Blue Beetle" will be a comedy with Aquaman and Destroyer joining forces

"Blue Beetle" director Ángel Manuel Soto has confirmed his next work: a brother comedy co-starring "Aquaman" Jason Momoa and "Drax the Destroyer" Dave Bautista.

IGN cited sources saying that Angel Manuel Soto will direct a film for MGM titled The Wrecking Crew. Although actor deals at most major studios are mostly on hold, The Wrap reported that Jason Momoa and Bautista had attracted attention and had been in talks before SAG-AFTRA joined the Writers Guild of America on strike last month.

Similarly, before the Writers Guild went on strike, Jonathan Topper, the screenwriter of "Warrior" and "The Adam Project", had joined the crew to write the script.

While the Blue Beetle movie didn't quite perform at the box office this past weekend, it did receive a ton of positive reviews in terms of word of mouth, with many praising it as a refreshing take on the recent slew of DCEU films.

This year's DC movies have not performed well at the box office. "The Flash," which just finished its theatrical release, only had a disappointing total box office of $268 million, while "Shazam 2" flopped and had a dismal box office of only $133 million worldwide.
