Actor Jason Momoa is best known for his role as the lead in the DC superhero film Aquaman. But he once starred in a poorly reviewed film in 2011, Conan the Barbarian. Recently, he expressed his thoughts on the film, and his opinions may mean that he will not be returning to the role for the upcoming Conan the Barbarian anniversary celebration. In an interview with British GQ , Momoa slammed the 2011 film, in which he played the sword-wielding legend in the 1982 Arnold Schwarzenegger remake. "I've been involved in a lot of really bad things and movies where you have no control over them," Momoa told British GQ. "Conan was one of those things. It was one of my best experiences, and it took over and turned into a big piece of garbage." The film did have a bit of a bumpy ride. The film was delayed at Warner Bros. before Lionsgate purchased the rights. Brett Ratner was announced as director before German filmmaker Markus Nispel came on board in June 2009. Momoa joined in January 2010. The film had a budget of $90 million and was released in 3D. It was panned by critics and received only a 25% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It grossed just $48 million worldwide. However, Momoa was not too affected. Before the release of "Conan the Barbarian", he had already starred in another "once" acclaimed TV series, HBO's "Game of Thrones", in which he played the warlord Khal Drogo. In addition to his role as Aquaman, he also played a supporting role in Dune in 2021. And the new film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is about to be released. |
