Veteran actor Shen Wei, who was a professional villain in Hong Kong films in the 1980s and was known as the "villain of the generation", suddenly passed away today (11th) at the age of 71. Shen Wei was born in 1951. He started to act in the 1970s and has appeared in hundreds of movies and TV series. He is good at playing villains, but he was unknown until he played in "The Flag Soldiers" directed by Mak Dang-hung in 1984. His excellent acting impressed the audience and won the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 1985 Hong Kong Film Awards. Since then, he has continued to play villains in various Hong Kong films, either arrogant or vicious, or mean or sinister. Such as "The Devil's Jade", "Miracle", "Dragon Gate" and so on. The Last Gangster in the Underworld, starring Stephen Chow and Ng Man-tat, was written, directed and performed by Shen Wei. He began to fade out of the film and television industry in the late 1990s. In 2019, he was once critically ill and fell into a coma due to pneumonia and respiratory failure. Fortunately, he slowly woke up and recovered.
