Netflix's English version of "Squidward Fever" approved, "Fight Club" director in charge

According to Deadline, an English version of Netflix's hit Korean drama "Squid Game" is in production and will most likely be directed by David Fincher, the famous director of "Fight Club" and "Gone Girl".

The original Korean drama was renewed for a second season in June 2022. After the first season was aired in September 2021, it received more than 1.65 billion hours of total streaming time in just one month, becoming the number one series in Netflix history. It is reported that the story of the second season will take place three years after the male protagonist won the game in the first season, and he is caught up in the cruel survival game again.

Netflix has previously launched a reality show called Squidward: The Challenge, which premiered in 2023 and has been renewed for a second season. Although it will not cause fatal consequences, the show still encountered many problems during production, including poor environment and safety issues, which led many contestants to sue the producers.

David Fincher’s first two films were exclusively available on Netflix, Mank, starring Gary Oldman, and The Hitman, starring Michael Fassbender. It seems that the director has reached some kind of long-term cooperation with the platform.
