According to foreign media reports, the new film "Silent Night" directed by 76-year-old John Woo recently started shooting in Mexico City. This is the first time John Woo has directed a movie in five years since "The Manhunt" in 2017, and it is also his first English film in 19 years since "Memento Mobili" in 2003. The film stars Joel Kinnaman (The Suicide Squad), and is reportedly a dialogue-free film about a father avenging his son's death. The film's cinematographer is Sharone Meir of Whiplash. Christian Mercuri (Escape from the Furnace), Basil Iwanek (Sicario), Erica Lee (John Wick series) and Lori Tilkin (Red Cliff) serve as producers. In 1993, John Woo went to the United States for the first time to direct "Target" starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. He then directed films such as "Broken Arrow", "Face/Off", "Black Jack", "Mission: Impossible 2" and "Windtalkers". After directing "Memento Mori" starring Ben Affleck in 2003, he returned to the Chinese-speaking regions to make films, and successively released directorial works such as "Red Cliff (Part 1)", "Red Cliff (Part 2)", "The Crossing (Part 1)", "The Crossing (Part 2)" and "The Hunt". |
