Actor Ben Whishaw, who played James Bond's high-tech gadget expert Dr. Q in 2012's Skyfall, 2015's Spectre and 2021's No Time to Die, expressed dissatisfaction in a recent interview with the film about his homosexuality not being highlighted in No Time to Die. In a scene in No Time to Die, Dr. Q casually mentioned that he was going on a date with a man, which was the only detail about the character in the film. "I don't think the studio was forced into it," Whishaw told The Guardian. "I think it was done with the best of intentions. I thought, 'We've got this far, and that's it? There's no going back?'" Whishaw added: "Anyway, I didn't complain to anyone on the set. If it was on another set, I might have said something. 007 is a big production. I thought about whether to question it, but in the end I held back. I accepted the script and performed according to the lines, that's it." However, in the interview, Wei Xiao also said that he was "happy to admit that some decisions may not be so good." |
