Spider-Man: No Return is expected to surpass Avatar in North American box office

"Spider-Man: No Homecoming" lost to the new film "Scream 5" in North America in its fifth weekend, but due to the lack of large-scale new films released, Spider-Man returned to the championship throne in the sixth weekend with 14 million US dollars, and is expected to top the throne for the seventh time in the seventh weekend with 10.4 million US dollars.

Foreign media predict that the film will accumulate 734 million US dollars by January 31, only 26 million US dollars away from the third place in North American film history, "Avatar".

Although "Spider-Man: No Homecoming" has performed exceptionally well during the epidemic, it is almost impossible for it to challenge the runner-up "Avengers 4" with $858 million and the champion "Star Wars 7" with $936 million.

"Scream 5", which opened on January 14, will earn $6.6 million in its third weekend, with a total of more than $60 million in North America and nearly $100 million in global box office. The film was invested with only $25 million, and the distributor Paramount has already recovered its cost and will make a small profit.

"Sing 2" also has good box office sustainability, earning $4.7 million in its sixth weekend, down only 17% from the previous week. The film has grossed $134 million in North America and $247 million worldwide (RMB 1.571 billion).

Although it cannot be compared with Hollywood cartoons before the epidemic, it is already the Hollywood cartoon with the highest global box office after "Frozen 2", only losing to "Jiang Ziya" in the 2020 National Day holiday in mainland China with 1.602 billion yuan.
