The Flash movie director: If there is a sequel, the male lead should not be replaced

According to The Flash movie director Andy Muschietti, if there is a sequel, the male lead Ezra Miller should not be replaced.

In an interview with The Discourse podcast, Andy Muschietti said the controversial DC actor should continue to play Barry Allen despite his past troubles.

"If [there is a sequel], yes. I don't think there's anyone who could have played the role as well as he has. Other people have done great things with the character, but in this particular perspective, he's so good. Like you said, the two Barrys - it feels like the character was designed for them."

Producer Barbara Muschietti added: “During principal photography, Ezra was outstanding, very committed and professional. Ezra gave everything he had to this role – physically, creatively and emotionally. He was absolutely first class.”

Andy Muschietti also recently gave an update on Miller's status.

"Ezra is doing well right now. We all want them to recover. They are taking steps to recover. They are dealing with mental health issues, but they are doing well right now. We spoke to them a while ago and they are very committed to their recovery," he said.

Initial reviews for The Flash have been positive, with Muschietti praising Miller's performance as one of the best he's ever seen.
