Wu Jing talks about the original intention of filming "Wolf Warrior": Why can't China have its own tough guy image

Today (January 7), Wu Jing wrote an article about movies. He said that he wanted to make Chinese movies with a strong spirit and contribute to building a strong film country. Wu Jing also mentioned the original intention of creating the "Wolf Warrior" series of movies: Why can't China have its own contemporary tough guy image and express our own heroic concept?

Wu Jing said that the movie screen can not only magnify the details of the story, but also the attitude of the creator. Acting down-to-earth, being an upright person, and doing things with integrity are the most basic requirements for artists.

In the process of being an actor, I realized that I could not rest on my laurels, but had to constantly break through myself. Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li... There are so many talented martial arts actors who have carved out their own niche in the world of film. I also want to find my own characteristics and create new characters that can represent the current China and show the new spirit of the times.

After I became a director and storyteller, the idea of creating a typical image became stronger. For example, when it comes to tough guys, many viewers think of foreign actors. I was very dissatisfied: Why can't China have its own contemporary tough guy image and express our own heroic concept? This became my original intention for creating the "Wolf Warrior" series of films.

He wrote in the article: In recent years, the films I participated in, such as "The Wandering Earth" and "Changjin Lake", have achieved certain results, and I have also summed up some experience.

In terms of artistic expression, I think it is very important to have accurate genre positioning and innovative audio-visual language. This includes clear values, realism in action genres, modernity in military genres, and so on.

But I also know clearly that the most fundamental reason for success is China's strong national strength. Film is a comprehensive art, especially relying on the comprehensive strength of a country. Only by relying on a developed economy, a prosperous culture, and advanced technology can the film industry grow bigger and stronger.
