Pixar's new animation "The Metamorphosis" announced that it would not release it in theaters

After the success of Soul and Summer Friends, the next film, Teen Depot, scheduled for March, was supposed to be a key step for Pixar to return to theaters. However, due to the worsening of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, this key step seems to be impossible to take. Disney recently announced that Teen Depot will be released exclusively on the Disney+ channel on March 11.

“Disney+ subscribers around the world will be able to watch the streaming premieres of Soul and Summer Friends, and we will also bring Pixar’s new film, Big Bang Theory, to the service,” Kareem Daniel, president of Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, said in a statement. “As theatrical box office recovery is slow, especially for family films, flexibility remains a core consideration in our distribution strategy when it comes to bringing Disney’s great content to audiences around the world.”

"Youth Metamorphosis" is Shi Zhiyu's first film as a director. Shi Zhiyu previously directed the Pixar award-winning short film "Bao". "Youth Metamorphosis" describes the troubles that the protagonist Xiaomei faces as she grows up. Xiaomei discovers that when she becomes very excited, her body turns into a giant red panda, and a series of embarrassing and funny plots unfold.

The exclusive release of Disney+ means that audiences cannot see the movie "Youth Metamorphosis" in theaters. With the recurrence of the epidemic, there may be many similar situations in the future.
