Universal Pictures has announced that it is partnering with SEGA to develop a film based on the Sega Shinobi video game series.

The film will be directed by Sam Hargrave (the Extraction series) and the script will be adapted by Ken Kobayashi (Sunny, Move On).

The Shinobi series debuted as an arcade game in 1987, focusing on the story of the protagonist Joe Musashi as a modern ninja fighting against evil forces.
