Universal Pictures has announced that it is partnering with SEGA to develop a film based on the Sega Shinobi video game series. The film will be directed by Sam Hargrave (the Extraction series) and the script will be adapted by Ken Kobayashi (Sunny, Move On). Here's an overview of the game series from Universal Pictures: The Shinobi series debuted as an arcade game in 1987, focusing on the story of the protagonist Joe Musashi as a modern ninja fighting against evil forces. The Shinobi series is centered on epic avant-garde action, and has launched a total of 14 games, including spin-offs and ported games, with global sales exceeding 5 million copies. The latest game in the series was announced at the end of 2023, and more information about the new game will be announced in the future. |
