Netflix's The Witcher Season 3 script has been written and is ready for 7 seasons

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, producer of Netflix's live-action series The Witcher, was interviewed by British media TechRadar and said that the script for the third season is almost finished. "We've basically finished writing the script, which is great," Hissrich said. "I'm very excited about the progress of this season because it's based on my favorite novel, The Time of Contempt."

"The Time of Contempt" is the second novel of The Witcher, and it follows "Blood of Elves" and two short story collections, which are the material for the first two seasons of the show. "I feel that the first and second seasons have laid the foundation for everything that is about to happen," Hissrich said in an interview, "but the creative process has just begun. We already have the script, and now we will invite the director and the actors and really start to delve into research and reflection to make sure this is the perfect season."

If season 3 begins filming in early 2022 and is not delayed, it could be released on Netflix sooner than season 2. But since the creative process is "just beginning" and the coronavirus is still a threat, season 3 will most likely take another two years to produce and promote, which would put it on air in December 2023.

Producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has planned a seven-season run for The Witcher, and Henry Cavill has said that if Netflix continues to renew the show, he would absolutely want to play Geralt for all seven seasons.
