Gong Yu of iQiyi calls for price hike of online movie tickets: 6 yuan is too low

On December 29, according to media reports, at the roundtable discussion at the opening forum of the 2021 China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, iQiyi CEO Gong Yu proposed that the business model of Internet movies must be innovative. The original model has a ceiling, and more attempts can be made at single-film on-demand.

Gong Yu also said, "The price of online movie tickets has to go up, 6 yuan is too low!"

It is worth noting that Gong Yu previously mentioned at an event that membership prices are generally low, saying that " membership prices are set too low and cannot cover content costs."

In the middle of this month, iQiyi announced a membership fee increase. The price increase is mainly for monthly and quarterly membership fees. The continuous monthly subscription fee increased from 19 yuan to 22 yuan, the continuous quarterly membership fee increased from 58 yuan to 63 yuan, the ordinary monthly membership fee increased from 25 yuan to 30 yuan, and the ordinary quarterly membership fee increased from 68 yuan to 78 yuan.

iQIYI said that the membership subscription price of the video platform has always been low, which has affected the healthy development of the industry. In order to establish a more benign industry ecology, reward excellent content producers, and ultimately provide members with more and better content, we decided to adjust the membership price.
