China's total box office in 2021 ranked first in the world, and the top five are all domestic films

According to a report by People's Daily today (December 9), data provided by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and the China Film Art Research Center showed that as of December 8, China's total box office and number of screens in 2021 ranked first in the world. The number of screens nationwide has increased from 50,776 in 2017 to 81,317, and the scale of giant screens ranks first in the world.

Overall, the box office share of domestic films has increased from 53.84% in 2017 to 83.72% in 2020. In addition, in the past five years, China's total film production has exceeded 4,000, with more than 8 billion moviegoers.

The top five films on the Chinese movie box office list are all domestic films. The top one, "The Battle at Lake Changjin", has a box office of over 5.744 billion yuan. It has achieved such outstanding results in just a few months of its release, proving that Chinese films are developing rapidly and performing very well.

It was followed by Wolf Warriors 2, with a cumulative box office of 5.695 billion yuan. The third place was Hello, Li Huanying, which was touching and won the audience's tears and word of mouth, with a cumulative box office of 5.414 billion yuan. Ne Zha and The Wandering Earth also ranked fourth and fifth on the Chinese movie box office list with their outstanding performances, with cumulative box office of 5.036 billion yuan and 4.691 billion yuan respectively.

The common feature of these five movies is that they do not have popular actors, and all rely on the content to get the box office. Overall, domestic films can be said to be flourishing, and we look forward to domestic films creating greater glory in the future!
