Black female star joins Star Wars series "The Following" and may play female Sith

According to a recent report by Deadline, the black actress Amandla Stenberg will join Disney+'s Star Wars series The Acolyte. The series tells the story of the High Republic's final days in the hands of dark forces, as well as the various secrets behind it. Will Amandla play the protagonist, or a female Sith? The specific role information has not been revealed.

"The Following" is written and executive produced by Leslye Headland, and production will begin in 2022.

The era of the High Republic is roughly 800 years after the Old Republic and 200 years before the Star Wars trilogy. In the Star Wars world, followers refer to new Sith apprentices (played by women in the show) who begin training under an experienced Sith. However, due to the "rule of two", there can only be two Siths - a master and apprentice.

Amandla is good at acting, dubbing, violin and vocal music. She has appeared in movies such as The Darkest Minds, The Hunger Games and The Hate U Give. In 2015 and 2016, she was named one of the 30 most influential young opinion leaders by Time magazine for two consecutive years, and Forbes listed her as one of the 30 most influential young people.
