Hal Jordan Confirmed as Cast in HBO's New DC Universe Green Lantern Series

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kyle Chadler will play Hal Jordan, one of the protagonists in the new DC Universe series Green Lantern.

HBO ordered the series in June, and Chris Mundy, the screenwriter of True Detective: The Last Airbender, will serve as the showrunner, while the creators of Watchmen and Lost will serve as executive producers. Tom King, a famous DC and Marvel comic book writer, will be responsible for the script.

The show will also be a "True Detective" style detective series - Hal Jordan will be responsible for mentoring the young Green Lantern John Stewart, and together they will investigate a murder case that occurred on Earth, but the conspiracy behind it goes far beyond the Earth.

Kyle Chadler won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in the final season of Friday Night Lights. He also played Dr. Mark Russell in Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong, and was nominated for an Emmy Award for his role as True Detective in the Netflix thriller Bloodline.

Green Lantern has not yet received a release date.
