Hollywood movies are often banned in some countries because of homosexual elements. The live-action version of Beauty and the Beast has encountered this situation. Now Eternals has also encountered troubles. The film contains homosexual plots and different descriptions of the prophet. Disney refused to cut it, so Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and other countries cancelled the release schedule of the film. According to foreign media Variety, "Eternals" was originally scheduled to be released in these countries on November 11. The local censorship agency requested to delete some clips, but Disney disagreed. A character in "Eternals" kissed a same-sex partner, and homosexuality is illegal in many Gulf countries. More importantly, the film has different descriptions of the prophets and gods on earth, which are considered blasphemous in these countries. A local cinema chain in Saudi Arabia confirmed that "Eternals" had indeed been banned, but they were not informed of the specific reasons for the ban. The United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Egypt and other countries will release "Eternals", but some intimate scenes will be deleted. "Eternals" is set after "Avengers 4" and focuses on a "new" superhero team in the MCU: the Eternals. They are a mysterious and powerful ancient race that came to Earth seven thousand years ago to protect humans from the mutants. But when faced with the question of "why didn't they help humans resist Thanos or participate in any wars?", the Eternals said that they had received instructions not to interfere in any human conflicts unless the mutants appeared. "Eternals" was released in South Korea, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and other places on November 3. The film will be officially released in North American theaters today (November 5). |
