Hong Kong martial arts actor Xu Shaoqiang passed away at the age of 73

According to Hong Kong media reports, the famous martial arts actor Xu Shaoqiang died of esophageal cancer in Beijing at the age of 73.

Xu Shaoqiang is a martial arts film star who dominated the Hong Kong film industry in the 1970s and 1980s. He was born in Shaw Brothers and was also a former artist of Hong Kong Asia Television. He was known for playing heroes in martial arts films. He began to attract attention in 1979 when he starred in the TV series "Heavenly Silkworm Change", in which he played the role of Yun Feiyang.

The role of "Yun Feiyang" in "Heavenly Silkworm Change" has become one of Xu Shaoqiang's representative roles. In 1993, Asia Television filmed the sequel "Heavenly Silkworm Change: Comparing to the Sky Again", and Xu Shaoqiang played "Yun Feiyang" again.

Xu Shaoqiang played villains in his later years, the most prominent of which was the villain Zhao Wuji in Stephen Chow's 1992 film "The Legend of the Drunken Master". After the 1990s, Xu Shaoqiang rarely performed in Hong Kong, but mostly filmed dramas in mainland China and settled in Beijing. His recent works include the costume dramas "Eternal Love" and "Word of Honor", and the costume fantasy film "Zhu Xian".
