It is reported that Fox TV in the United States is currently discussing restarting the popular action crime drama "24 Hours". According to Deadline, the series IP owner Fox TV is actively discussing the possibility and creativity of rebooting the series to bring the series back to the screen in a brand new version. In an interview with Deadline, Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorne said that it is "still" possible for "24" to return in some way. In that comment, Thorne didn't clarify the details, only acknowledging that discussions were ongoing at Fox: "We're still talking to the producers about a cut we haven't seen yet, and there are a lot of creative discussions going on." Series executive producer Howard Gordon also recently revealed that a new sequel to the show is in the works, but commented that nothing can be officially announced until all the pieces are put together and the remastered version is released. There were plans for multiple spinoffs in 2018, including a prequel series featuring a young Jack Bauer, while creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochrane are set to return with Howard Gordon. However, in 2020, FOX announced the cancellation of the spin-off series, and it seemed that the discussion of the new series was interrupted when the news of the revival of "24" was about to disappear. The original series, starring Kiefer Sutherland, aired for eight seasons, followed by 24: Live Another Day. After that, 24: Legacy, starring Corey Hawkins, Jimmy Smits, and Miranda Otto, was produced but canceled after its first season. But Fox has said it hopes to continue the series with a "new version" featuring new actors. |
