"Joker 2" domestic box office is expected to be 70 million US dollars in its first domestic box office, which is lower than the first one

Joker 2 is set to debut next month, and according to early tracking estimates, the film will still have a strong debut, but will fall some way short of the record set by the first film in 2019.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joker 2 is expected to gross more than $70 million in North America on its opening weekend on October 4, which is lower than the original's record of $96.2 million in 2019. Early tracking data is not specific, so actual results will vary and may be adjusted closer to release.

The first Joker movie was a dark horse, grossing over $1 billion worldwide despite a budget of just $60 million, becoming one of the most profitable films of all time. The sequel is said to have a much higher production budget, but director Todd Phillips said the previously rumored $220 million budget was "ridiculous."

The film screened at the Venice Film Festival in early September, but received mixed reviews from critics, with Metacritic currently rating it 43% positive and 48% mixed.
