According to Deadline, Paramount has adjusted the release dates of many films. Top Gun 2, starring Tom Cruise, has been postponed from November 19 to May 27, 2022, and Mission: Impossible 7 has been postponed from May 27, 2022 to September 30, 2022, a delay of four months. In addition to Tom Cruise's two films, Paramount has also postponed "Jackass" to 2022, from October 22 to February 4, 2022. Due to the postponement of three films, Paramount will have no more movies released in theaters for the rest of 2021. Foreign media believe that the postponement reflects Paramount's growing lack of confidence in theater distribution amid the spread of the Delta variant of the COVID-19 pandemic. Paramount's goal is to attract more audiences through each of these blockbusters and regard 2022 as a healthier market environment. Recent rumors have suggested Venom 2 could be delayed until 2022, though a new poster still suggests the film is scheduled to hit theaters on October 15. Other upcoming blockbusters including "Eternals", "No Time to Die" and "Spider-Man: No Homecoming" are still scheduled to hit the big screen this year. |
