Amazon's "Lord of the Rings" series premieres on September 2

Today (August 3), Amazon released the first stills of the first season of "The Lord of the Rings" and announced that it will be broadcast on September 2, 2022. It is reported that the production cost of the first season will be as high as 465 million US dollars, and this is only one season. It is planned to shoot five seasons in New Zealand.

The Lord of the Rings series is directed by J.A. Bayona and Wayne Yeh, and is produced by John D. Payne & Patrick McKay. It stars Robert Aramayo, Owen Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Ishmael Cruz Cordova, Joseph Mahler and others.

Set in the Second Age, thousands of years before the film versions of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, The Lord of the Rings series will take viewers to a time when powerful nations have been formed, nations have risen and fallen, humble heroes have endured hardships, hopes hang on a thread, and Tolkien's most powerful villain wants to drag the world into darkness. Starting in a relatively peaceful era, the series tells the story of a group of new and old faces facing the resurgence of evil in Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the magnificent forests of Lindon, the capital of the elves, to the breathtaking Empire of Númenor, and to the farthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will leave legends and be sung after death.
