Johnson-starred "Jungle Cruise" became the North American box office champion with 91.8 million dollars in the first week

According to IGN, the rough report of North American movie box office was released over the weekend. The new Disney action-adventure film "Jungle Cruise" starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt earned $34.181 million in its first weekend and easily topped the list.

The film grossed $27.6 million in its first overseas week, and $61.781 million worldwide in its first week. Disney also announced that the film's first-week global paid revenue on Disney+ streaming reached $30 million ($29.99 per film), bringing the film's first-week global total revenue to $91.8 million.

"Jungle Cruise" is inspired by the amusement ride of the same name and is set in the early 1920s. Johnson plays a captain who takes a brother and sister to find a legendary "Tree of Life" with healing powers. They will face threats from wild animals and compete with a German expedition team.

Jack Whitehall, Edgar Ramirez, Jesse Plemons, Paul Giamatti, Quim Gutierrez and others also starred. "Jungle Cruise" was released in North American theaters on July 30, and was also available for paid on-demand viewing on Disney+.
