Aquaman 2 producer: Will not succumb to pressure from netizens to replace Aquaman

The DC blockbuster "Aquaman 2" is being filmed in the UK. Producer Peter Safran was recently interviewed by Deadline. When asked whether Johnny Depp's fans' petition on social media, asking Warner to fire Amber Heard, had affected the film's casting, Safran said they never thought of replacing Amber Heard, "We have to do what's right for the movie."

"Honestly, we don't respond to fan pressure. You have to do what's best for the movie. This movie needs James Wan as the director and Jason Momoa as the male lead. Then the female lead should be Amber Heard. That's it."

"We know what happened on Twitter, but that doesn't mean you have to respond to it. Or take it as gospel or give in to their wishes. What we realized is that we have to do the right thing for this movie."

"Aquaman 2" will continue to be directed by James Wan. "Queen of the Sea" Amber Heard and "Aquaman" Jason Momoa will both return. Pilou Asbæk, who plays Euron Greyjoy in "Game of Thrones", is expected to join the film and play an important role. It will be released on December 16, 2022.
