Previously, Scarlett Johanson, who plays the leading role in the latest Marvel movie "Black Widow", filed a lawsuit against Disney , accusing the company of intentionally violating her contract when it decided to synchronize the theatrical release date of "Black Widow" with Disney Premier Access. Disney later responded, saying it had "fully complied with Ms. Johansson's contract" and that the lawsuit's "callous disregard for the pandemic" was "sad and painful." Disney said Premier Access "significantly enhances her ability to earn additional income beyond the $20 million she has received to date." Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is reportedly "angry and ashamed" by Disney's response to Scarlett Johansson's lawsuit, believing the company didn't do enough to reach a settlement with one of Marvel's biggest stars. In a report by former Hollywood Reporter editor Matthew Belloni, Feige apparently lobbied Disney to keep Black Widow in theaters only to avoid upsetting Johnson. Furthermore, the report states that when "everything started to become contentious, the film began to struggle, and Johansson's team threatened to sue," Feige tried to get Disney to "work it out with her (Johansson)." |
