Orlando Bloom wants to return in new Lord of the Rings movie

Orlando Bloom, who played the elf prince in the "Lord of the Rings" movies, says he would love to return for "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum." But there's one problem: elves don't age.

“I don’t know how they’re going to handle this,” Bloom told Variety. “I guess with AI, anything can be done now.”

Even if he has to use AI to cover up his aging, Bloom is still willing to return to "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum." He said that if producer Peter Jackson asked him to jump, he would immediately respond: "How high do you want me to jump? After all, he started my entire career."

Bloom said he really didn't know what director Andy Serkis had planned for the new film.

“I did talk to Andy and he said they were thinking about how to do it. I was like, ‘How is that possible?’ And he said, ‘Well, AI!’ I was like, ‘Oh, okay!’ It was a pretty magical time in my life, one of those times where there was no downside.”

Bloom isn't the only Lord of the Rings veteran who's open to returning to Tolkien's world. Ian McKellen has also said that his character Gandalf could appear in future films, with Warner Bros. hoping he'll play the iconic wizard again.

"When? I don't know," MacLean said. "What's the script? It's not written yet. So they have to hurry."

Viggo Mortensen is also willing to return to play Aragorn.

The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum was officially announced as early as May, with Serkis confirmed as the director and Jackson as the producer. Co-writers Fran Walsh and Phillippa Boyens will also participate in the production of the new film. This will be the first of two new Lord of the Rings feature films, and the story may be set between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
