"Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness" is a CG animation series invested and distributed by Netflix and produced by TMS Entertainment (a film company under Sega). The animation is directed by Eiichiro Hanzumi ("Assassination Classroom") and co-written by him and Shogo Muto ("Kamen Rider Build", "Densha Otoko"). The animation was officially broadcast exclusively on Netflix on July 8, but received poor response and received negative reviews from many fans of the "Resident Evil" series and some film critics. Taylor Lyles of IGN gave it a 7:00 review: "While its protagonist's actions are a little too predictable and the screen time between its two leads is wildly uneven, Infinite Darkness is a step up from previous Resident Evil games on both the big and small screens." 7 points is already a relatively high score. According to Rotten Tomatoes data, the overall critic approval rate is only 50%; and the audience approval rate is only 58%. A viewer who gave 1.5 stars (out of 5 stars) said: "I'm really waiting for a good episode of "Resident Evil". It's so disappointing. The animation is clumsy, the lips and the dialogue don't correspond, making the animation look awkward as a whole, the dialogue is cold and poorly written... There are many things that make this look like a bad game cutscene. Sometimes the visual effects are good, but most of the time the characters walk stiffly or do some movements that don't look right. If you are a fan of these games, you may like it, but if not, don't waste your time... It doesn't live up to the hype at all. I've had more fun watching the cutscenes of "Resident Evil 2: Remake" than this. They definitely didn't listen to the fans' opinions." One viewer who gave the film a low score of 2 stars (out of 10 stars) on IMdb shouted, "Capcom should quickly change a group of people!" Not everyone gave a bad review. One viewer who gave IMdb 8 stars said: "I'm not a fan of the game series. I played the second one, and I still liked that game even though I didn't like zombies very much. But I love "Resident Evil 7" very much, and I have always liked these animated shorts. It's not perfect, and the writing is sometimes shaky, and the animation is the same. But overall, it's really good. Leon is very good, and the chemistry between him and Claire is also very good, even if the two of them only meet for a short 2 minutes. The animation is not particularly scary, but then I won't be so easily scared. Overall, I think all the problems are due to it being too short. The whole series adds up to less than the length of an average movie. But putting that aside, I am definitely looking forward to future series and will definitely watch them." The overall rating of the domestic Douban film review is only 5.1 points (1,644 people rated it). Whether it is short reviews or drama reviews on Douban, audiences and game fans have expressed their great disappointment. Is this show even more disappointing for fans of the game series?
