■Detailed evaluation and recommendation

■ Depth and development of the story

"Space Battleship Yamato: Final Chapter" depicts a grand story as the finale of the series. The story begins in the year 2203, with the water planet Aquarius approaching Earth and threatening a great flood. This setting gives viewers a sense of tension over the survival of the Earth, giving even more weight to the actions of the Yamato crew.

The element of a conspiracy by the Dingir Empire's Grand Priest General Rugal adds a new dimension to the story, that of a crisis caused not by a simple natural phenomenon but by the presence of a hostile force. This evolves the Yamato crew's battle from simply dealing with a natural disaster to a battle against a hostile force, giving the story depth and tension.

In addition, the scene in which Yamato, captained by Godai Susumu, is attacked by the Dingir Empire's fleet on its way to Earth is visually very impressive, and the power and tension of the battle scene are one of the reasons that draw the viewer in. While continuing the fighting style of Yamato seen throughout the series, such battle scenes also give a sense of freshness as they are fought against a new enemy.

■ Character growth and appeal

In Space Battleship Yamato: The Final Chapter, the growth and appeal of the main characters is outstanding. In particular, the character of Susumu Kodai continues to grow throughout the series, and in the final chapter, there are many scenes that test his leadership and decisiveness. His decisions and actions leave a strong impression on viewers, and show his sense of responsibility and courage as the captain of Yamato.

Yuki Mori's character also gains depth through her relationship with Susumu Kodai. Her role as the leader of the life squad and her work as a nurse enriches the relationships among the Yamato crew and resonates with viewers. Her relationship with Susumu Kodai as her fiancée also adds an element of romance to the story, allowing viewers to feel an emotional connection.

The return of Okita Juzou is a surprise and moving element for viewers. His experience and knowledge as the first captain will be a great asset to the Yamato crew and bring new developments to the story. Okita Juzou's character embodies the spirit of Yamato seen throughout the series and deeply moves viewers.

■ The appeal of video and music

The visuals of "Space Battleship Yamato: The Final Chapter" have evolved further by incorporating new technology while retaining the spectacular space scenes and powerful battle scenes that are characteristic of the series. The 70mm complete version in particular has improved image quality, making a strong visual impact on the viewer. Even compared to the 35mm version, which has different scenes and music timing, the 70mm version stands out for its high level of perfection.

The music is also spectacular, with a magnificent score composed by Tai Miyagawa, the symbol of the series. The theme songs "Ore to Yamato" and "Love Supreme" in particular leave a strong impression on viewers and enhance the emotional uplift of the story. The vocals of Isao Sasaki and Junko Yagami deeply move viewers and enrich the worldview of the story.

■ Background and influences

The production of "Space Battleship Yamato: The Final Chapter" was fraught with difficulties as it was the final film in the series. Due to delays in the work, it became a rare case in which the complete 35mm and 70mm versions of the first screening existed. This production background gives the viewer a sense of the production team's efforts and passion for the perfection of the work.

This work also had a major impact as the finale of the series. It later led to the production of sequels such as "Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection," which contributed to increasing the popularity and acclaim of the entire series. For viewers, it is a work that gives the impression of the conclusion of the series and the expectation of new developments at the same time.

■ Recommendations and viewing points

In particular, elements such as Susumu Kodai's leadership and determination, his romance with Yuki Mori, and the return of Juzo Okita will deeply touch viewers and sympathize with them.
