Evaluation

HAPPY☆LESSON THE FINAL is the final chapter of the hugely popular series based on the original work by Mutsumi Sasaki and was released as an OVA in 2004. It is a long-awaited sequel for existing fans and is packed with storylines and characters that will appeal to new audiences.

The story begins with a courage contest held before the old school building is demolished. This event is an important scene that deepens the relationship between Chitose and Fumitsuki and brings back memories of Mutsuki's first love. The theme of the demolition of the old school building skillfully portrays the emotions of the characters who are torn between the past and the future. In particular, Mutsuki's loneliness and Chitose's conflict resonate deeply with the viewers.

The appeal of the characters is also a major point of this work. The main character, Chitose, is a high school student who is all alone after losing her parents, but she grows up by living a strange life together with five teachers. Each teacher's personality stands out, and viewers are particularly impressed by Mutsuki's kindness and clumsiness, Kisaragi's mysterious aura, and Uzuki's liveliness. Minazuki's pure love and Fumitsuki's strong will also add excitement to the story.

The cast is also impressive, with the performances of voice actors such as Daisuke Kishio, Ruri Asano, Akiko Kimura, and Kikuko Inoue bringing out the charm of the characters. In particular, Nana Mizuki's voice for Minazuki perfectly expresses her innocence and lovability.

In terms of production, Studio Aimaru and WOW World have worked together to create beautiful visuals and smooth animation. Character design is handled by Yasuhisa Kato and Mayumi Watanabe, and color design is handled by Manami Aoyama. The efforts of these staff members greatly enhance the visual appeal of the work. Additionally, the sound, with music by Fuminori Iwasaki and sound direction by Koichi Iizuka, is also an important element in enhancing the atmosphere of the story.

The theme songs are also impressive, with the opening "Hikari Hitotsu Hirari" sung by Sleepin' Johnny Fish and the ending "Paradise" by Grace. These songs reflect the theme of the story and the feelings of the characters, and will stay with the viewers.
