■ Story

The Yanase Fairy Tale world, neither a "fairy tale" nor a "fairy tale," opens at the Yanase Fairy Tale Theater, which is filled with messages of love and courage

The Yanase fairy tales collected here in honor of the "Yanase Takashi Fairy Tale Theater" contain so many different stories that even I am surprised.
It feels like I'm looking at someone else's work.
However, there is no doubt that they are all original works by me.
And while I am a manga artist and picture book author, my love of poetry and fairy tales is a hidden ingredient in my work.
I would be very happy if everyone enjoys watching it.

Takashi Yanase Fairy Tale Theatre - Detailed Review and Recommendation

Yanase Takashi Fairy Tale Theatre is an OVA series based on Yanase Takashi's picture books, and was released as a DVD box set in 2008. This series, consisting of 23 episodes, is a collection of works that show Yanase Takashi's rich creativity and love for humanity, and can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. Below, we will explain in detail the appeal and features of this work, as well as recommended points.

Appeal and Features of the Work

The greatest appeal of Takashi Yanase's Fairy Tale Theatre is its diversity and deep messages. Each story unfolds a different tale, and each story has its own unique worldview. For example, the first story, "Little Boh the Straw Hat," depicts the importance of smiling, while the sixth story, "Uncle Ganbaril's Bean Soup/Uncle Ganbaril and the Silver Romance," conveys the value of effort and friendship. These stories not only teach children kindness, courage, and the preciousness of life, but also have the power to remind adults of the richness of the heart.

In addition, because the film is based on a picture book by Takashi Yanase, the illustrations and story of the original are reproduced as animation. Thanks to the technical skills of The Answer studio, which was in charge of animation production, the film has been able to express the atmosphere of the original without compromising it, making it even more appealing. In particular, the colorful and warm visuals are visually enjoyable and stimulate children's imaginations.

Music is also an important element that enhances the appeal of this work. The music by Hiroaki Kondo resonates pleasantly in line with the theme of each episode, deeply conveying the emotions of the story. The gentle voice of Hiromi Okazaki, who sings the theme song "Sokkuri no Kurinoki," and the energetic voice of Dreaming, who sings the insert song "Ganbarir Ojisan," further enrich the worldview of the story.

Production background and staff

Yanase Takashi Fairy Tale Theatre began as a grand project to turn Yanase Takashi's picture books into animation. There are 25 original picture books, and to condense them into 23 episodes, the power of the series composition and scriptwriting was essential. The scriptwriters, including Yonemura Shoji, have worked hard to convey the essence of the original works while also making it easy for viewers to understand.

The directors, Tsutomu Shibayama, Minoru Ohara, Taiichiro Yamamoto, and Toshiya Shinohara, each gave their own unique direction to each story, bringing out the best in the stories. In particular, Tsutomu Shibayama's direction pursued visual beauty while faithfully recreating Takashi Yanase's worldview. Minoru Ohara's direction also portrayed the characters' emotions in detail, and had the power to move the hearts of viewers.

Sotsu Entertainment and The Answer studio, the production team, have been using their many years of experience in anime production to provide high-quality animation. In particular, The Answer studio has paid particular attention to the finest details in order to recreate the illustrations from Takashi Yanase's picture book as animation. This has resulted in a work that will satisfy fans of the original work.
