Commentary

During lunchtime, office worker Tanaka goes into a ramen shop that turns out to be run by a cat called "Taisho"... He speaks human language, is a bit stubborn, and is keen on research. The trend-conscious Taisho develops dishes such as "Slightly Bad Ramen" that uses a lot of ingredients that are starting to go rotten, and "Staff Ramen" topped with cat food... This is a short flash animation full of gags, featuring the interactions between Taisho and regular customer Tanaka.

Each episode was produced by a different cutting-edge creator, who was able to maximize the skills and creativity of each creator, in order to bring out the appeal of the "cat ramen" ingredient in a multifaceted way. The style of the show broke the conventional wisdom of TV anime, with character designs and writing styles being completely different for each episode. In addition, each episode contained a gimmick that could be used as a joke, creating an impact that only a short anime could have.

review

"Neko Ramen ~My Soy Sauce Flavor~" is a work that maximizes the possibilities of flash animation, and is an appealing work with unique humor and creative expression. The original "Neko Ramen" is a comedy manga by Kenji Sonishi, and its unusual setting of a cat chef running a ramen shop became a hot topic. This OVA faithfully reproduces the worldview of the original work, while also taking advantage of the expressive power unique to animation.

The biggest feature of this series is that a different creator participates in each episode, resulting in completely different character designs and styles. This allows viewers to enjoy fresh surprises and laughs every episode. For example, director Kasugamori Haruki's works are impressive for their deformed characters and comical movements, while Morii Kenshiro's works feature more realistic depictions and detailed gags. In addition, up-and-coming creators such as Yamazaki Yoriko, Obara Ai, Kagi, and nae have also provided works that make the most of their individual personalities, making the show enjoyable for viewers without ever getting bored.

The story begins with a ramen shop owner taking on a new challenge by opening a curry restaurant. The show depicts the owner's struggles as a businessman and his constant stream of customers, including Tanaka, at his mercy, creating laughs. In particular, the unique menu items developed by the owner, such as the "Slightly Bad Boy Ramen" and "Staff Meal Ramen," not only draw laughs from viewers, but are also of interest to ramen lovers.

The cast also adds to the appeal of this series. Nakagawa Rie, who plays the boss, perfectly expresses the stubbornness and humor of the cat boss, and Yamada Atsushi, who plays Tanaka-san, realistically portrays the reactions of the salaryman who is being manipulated. The voice actors' performances bring out the charm of the characters and resonate with viewers.

Music is also an important element in enhancing the atmosphere of this work. The theme song "You're the boss!!" was written, composed, and sung by Katsumi Tanaka, and is a song that symbolizes the theme of the work. The light-hearted melody and humorous lyrics will soothe the hearts of viewers.

Recommendation

"Neko Ramen ~Ore no Shoyu Aji~" is especially recommended for those who like gag anime and flash animation. It is also enjoyable for those who are interested in food such as ramen and curry. In addition, since different creators participate in each episode, it is also recommended for those who are interested in the animation production process and creative expression.

This is a short animation that can be enjoyed in a short amount of time, but it is packed with deep humor and creative expression. Please give it a watch.
