A comprehensive review of Juou Mujin no Fafnir - Juouumu Jinno Fafnir

"Juuou Mujin no Fafnir" is a TV anime series based on the light novel by Tsukasa, which was broadcast in 2015. The story is about "D" girls with special powers and Mononobe Yu, the only male "D", who fight together at a school called Midgar, as monsters called dragons threaten the world. Below, we will provide a detailed evaluation of the story, characters, production, music, and audience reactions of this work, and provide a recommendation.

Story and setting

The story of "Juuou Mujin no Fafnir" begins with a setting in which the world was changed 25 years ago by the sudden appearance of dragons. In this world, girls called "D" who possess the powers of dragons are born and train at an academy called Midgar. The protagonist, Mononobe Yu, is sent to this academy as the only male "D", where he meets his sister Mizuki and various other "D" girls and fights dragons together.

The appeal of this work lies in the exquisite blend of the fantasy element of dragons and the everyday element of school life. The chaotic scenes when Yu first arrives at school and the scenes where each character's personality stands out have the power to draw viewers in. In addition, the battle with the dragon and the gradual revelation of each character's past and secrets never tire of the viewer.

Of particular note is that a different dragon appears in each episode, and the strategies for fighting each dragon and character growth are depicted. For example, episode 2, "White Leviathan," depicts a battle with a giant sea dragon, and episode 5, "Muspelheim of Calamity," depicts a battle with a fire dragon. These episodes are visually very impactful, adding depth to the story.

character

Each character in "Juuou Mujin no Fafnir" is unique and charming. In particular, the protagonist, Mononobe Yuu, is a special man with the "D" status, but he is also depicted growing through his relationships with his sister Mizuki and the other "D" girls. Yuu's character has an excellent balance between his calmness in battle scenes and his humorous side in everyday life.

Each "D" girl is also a charming character in her own way. Iris Freya is a dropout girl who uses a magic wand that she can't control properly and causes explosions, but her cheerfulness and hard work endear her to viewers. Mononobe Mizuki is Yu's younger sister, but she also has the leadership skills to unify the school as student council president and the special ability to generate antimatter. The personalities and backgrounds of each character, including Lisa Highwalker, Firil Crest, Ariella Lu, Ren Miyazawa, and Tia Lightning, enrich the story.

Don't miss the relationships between the characters. The story is made more exciting by the drama between the characters, such as the brother-sister relationship between Yu and Mitsuki, the friendship between Yu and Iris, and the conflict between Liza and Mitsuki. In addition, the fictional weapons and the ability to generate higher elements that each character possesses are also visually enjoyable elements.

Production and visuals

Diomedea was in charge of the production of "Juuou Mujin no Fafnir." Diomedea puts a lot of effort into character design, creature design, and action scene drawings, resulting in a work with a strong visual impact. In particular, the battle scenes with the dragon have beautiful colors and movements that draw the viewer in.

Character design was handled by Sachiko Yasuda, and each character's personality is reflected in their visuals. The charm of each character is conveyed through their visuals, such as Yu's cool expression, Iris' bright smile, and Mitsuki's dignified appearance. Additionally, the work of Naoki Aisaka, who was in charge of creature design and action animation supervision, is also superb, with the dragon design and the intensity of the battle scenes standing out.

The art is by Studio Jakku, who beautifully depicts the backgrounds of Midgar's school and the fields where the dragons appear. The color design is by Yuki Hayashi, who chose colors that enhance the atmosphere of each scene. These visual elements combine to make Jyuou Mujin no Fafnir a visually stunning piece of work.

music

The music of "Juuou Mujin no Fafnir" is also an important element that enhances the appeal of the work. The opening theme "FLYING FAFNIR" is an up-tempo song sung by TRUSTRICK, and expresses the sense of adventure and tension of the story. The powerful melody and lyrics by Sayaka Kanda, who wrote the lyrics and composed the music, make the viewer feel a sense of anticipation for the story.

The ending theme "Ray of bullet" is a beautiful ballad sung by Rina Hidaka, who plays Iris Freya, and Manami Numakura, who plays Mitsuki Mononobe, and it brings out the touching scenes of the story. In the final episode, the version sung by everyone, including Hisako Kanemoto, who plays Lisa Highwalker, Sora Tokui, who plays Ariella Lu, Fumiko Uchimura, who plays Ren Miyazawa, and Ayane Sakura, who plays Tia Lightning, is used, livening up the climax of the story.

The background music also plays an important role in enhancing the atmosphere of the story. Music that heightens tension is used in battle scenes, while music that expresses the characters' feelings is used in everyday scenes, enhancing the viewers' emotions. These pieces of music help to make the worldview of the story more deeply felt.

Reactions from viewers

The response to "Juuou Mujin no Fafnir" from viewers was very positive. In particular, the charm of the characters, the beauty of the visuals, and the wonderful music were highly praised. In addition, the dragon battle scenes and the drama between the characters attracted viewers, and the series gained many fans.

However, some viewers felt that the story development was a bit predictable. In addition, some felt that the short 12 episodes did not fully explore the backgrounds of the characters and the depth of the story. These points could be pointed out as areas for improvement.

Recommendation

"Juuou Mujin no Fafnir" is a work that exquisitely combines the fantasy elements of fighting dragons with the everyday elements of school life. It is especially recommended for those who want to enjoy the charm of the characters, the beauty of the visuals, and the wonderful music. It is also recommended for those who want to enjoy the dragon battle scenes and the drama between the characters.

When watching this film, we recommend paying attention to the personalities and backgrounds of each character. Also, during the dragon battle scenes, you will enjoy it even more if you pay attention to the beauty of the visuals and music. Furthermore, if you pay attention to the development of the story and the growth of the characters, you will be able to feel the depth of the film.
