In the fierce battle with many professional players, will Light be able to use the newly implemented cards to defeat the powerful opponents?!

■Explanation

A few years after the Tree of Calamity incident that plunged the world into chaos, the world has regained peace. Shadowverse has become even more popular, and a facility to train professional players, Shadowverse Battle College, commonly known as Shadowverse College, has been established. Light Tenryu, a second-year junior high school student, is led by Wolfram Zelga, the founder of Shadowverse College, to transfer to Shadowverse College. Light, a complete Shadowverse beginner, decides to join the Shadowverse Club at the recommendation of his first friend, Subaru Makabe. The Shadowverse Club is a club activity made up of students who are serious about Shadowverse, and there are seven Shadowverse Clubs at Shadowverse College. Light decides to join one of them, Seventh Flame, by chance, but in fact, Seventh Flame only has one member and is in danger of being disbanded! In order to keep the club alive, Light decides to search for new members together with Seventh Flame captain Itsuki Mitsutagawa and Subaru Makabe. A suspicious shadow watches them. It is Haseura Haruma, captain of the Shadowverse club "First Reaper".

■ Evaluation

"Shadowverse F - Shadowverse Flame -" is a TV anime series based on Cygames' popular card game "Shadowverse", and a total of 50 episodes were broadcast from April 2, 2022 to March 25, 2023. This work delves deep into the world of Shadowverse and tells the story of the growth and friendship of young people who aim to become professional players. Below, we will evaluate this work in detail from various perspectives, including the story, characters, production, and music.

story

Shadowverse F is made up of three main arcs: Shadowverse Club Revival, Shadowverse Club Competition, and World Rankings. Each arc depicts the growth and challenges faced by protagonist Light Tenryu and his friends, and is characterized by compelling storytelling.

The Shadowverse Club Revival arc begins with Light transferring to Shadowverse College and joining the Seventh Flame, a club on the verge of being disbanded. This arc shows Light meeting and deepening friendships with various characters as he searches for new club members. The battle scene with Gentleman in particular is impressive and is an episode that symbolizes Light's growth.

In the Shadowverse Club Competition arc, the Seventh Flame takes on the challenge of a competition to determine the strongest Shadowverse College. In this arc, the individuality of each Shadowverse club stands out, and it is moving to see Light and the others face Shadowverse in their own ways. In particular, the showdown with Haseura Haruma is the climax and will grab the viewers' hearts.

In the World Ranking arc, after Seventh Flame becomes the strongest Shadowverse club, they challenge the world rankings against players from all over the world. In this arc, Light is shown using his new cards to defeat strong opponents. In particular, his battle with Sister Justine is an unmissable scene, showing Light's growth and the depth of his friendship.

character

The characters in Shadowverse F are unique and charming. The protagonist, Tenryu Light, is a Shadowverse beginner, but is portrayed growing alongside his friends. Light's first friend, Makabe Subaru, is a bright and energetic mood maker, but the dark expression he sometimes shows adds depth to the character. Mitsutagawa Itsuki, the captain of Seventh Flame, is a kind and gentle character, but shows his inner strength when it matters most.

The gentleman, Shion Otsuzaka, is a character who is not good at human relationships and often says nasty things, but it is moving to see him grow through his battles with Light. Each character, such as Ren Kazamatsuri, Tsubasa Takanashi, Mikado Shirogane, and Ryouga Jasei, has their own unique personality and adds excitement to the story.

Shadowverse's gold rare cards, known as DigiFries, are also depicted as important characters. Light's DigiFries Dragneel is a mysterious being that can talk, unlike other DigiFries, and plays an important role as a partner to support Light's growth. Each DigiFries brings out the individuality of the characters, such as Itsuki's Slade, Subaru's Bakelus, Ren's Amiros, Tsubasa's Wingy, Gentleman's Matey, Mikado's Galuel, and Ryoga's Demonia.

Production

Shadowverse F has been highly praised for its animation by ZEXCS. Character design is by Daiki Harada, who vividly depicts the individuality of the characters. In addition, many staff members worked together to complete the work, including follower director Daisuke Kitagawa, sub-character designer Yasunari Nitta, digital frame designer Tomoko Miyagawa, and prop designer Yoshiyoshi Iwanaga.

Experts from various fields have come together to enhance the quality of the work, including art director Kane Kwonbin, art setting director Ogawa Mamio, monitor graphics from sankaku, 3DCG director Oshima Shinsuke (DEEN DIGITAL), cinematographers Nakamura Yuta, Asakawa Shigeki, and Koshiyama Masahiko, editor Hiraki Daisuke, sound director Iida Satoki, music composer Ike Yoshihiro, and sound production from Sonirud.

music

The music of Shadowverse F is also something not to be missed. The opening theme, "Shingan," is sung by Lanndo feat. Keina Suda, and its powerful melody and lyrics bring out the theme of the work. The second opening theme, "Tick-Tock," is sung by NEWS, and its refreshing melody will soothe the hearts of viewers.

The ending theme "My Turn" is sung by Alice Kuroba (Yui Ogura), and the lyrics are touching, symbolizing the growth and friendship of Light and his friends. The second ending theme "STAR" is sung by Cho Tokimeki♡Sendenbu, and its bright and cheerful melody adds to the atmosphere of the work.

■Recommendation

"Shadowverse F - Shadowverse Flame -" is recommended not only for Shadowverse fans, but also for those who like anime and card games. The story is moving, the characters are unique, the production is high quality, and the music is heartwarming. In particular, the scenes depicting the growth and friendship of Light and his friends will grab the viewers' hearts. In addition, the Shadowverse battle scenes are spectacular and are sure to draw the viewers in.
