According to a recent report by foreign media Variety, Disney and Sony Pictures have reached an agreement that from 2022 to 2026, films released by Sony Pictures will be released in theaters and on Netflix, and then on all Disney platforms, including Disney+, Hulu, FX Networks, ABC and Freeform. The films to be released include Spider-Man, Hotel Transylvania and Jumanji. Of course, this agreement only applies to the US market. This also means that in the future, Marvel works such as "Spider-Man: No Homecoming", "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2", "Doctor Morbius", and "Venom 2" will be available on Disney+. The two parties also reached an important agreement that Hulu will begin streaming a large number of Sony films starting in June this year. This means that Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy and Garfield's The Amazing Spider-Man series will also appear in the Disney+ package (including Hulu). Although the transaction did not disclose the cost, the industry predicts that this agreement will bring $3 billion in revenue to Sony Pictures. Keith Le Goy, president of global content distribution at Sony Pictures, said the partnership with Disney reflects Sony's distribution strategy, which aims to maximize the value of each Sony film by providing movies to consumers through numerous partners and at all windows. |
