"Legends of Tomorrow" star "Heatwave" announced his withdrawal from the show due to disagreements with the studio

Dominic Purcell, star of the DC series Legends of Tomorrow, announced his departure from the series on Instagram today, also revealing the conflict between him and the studio.

Although Legends of Tomorrow has been renewed for Season 7, Purcell confirmed today that he did not sign an agreement to ensure his return to the show. This has nothing to do with "how much money the company throws out." He has been drifting away from the show from the beginning.

"The deal is over and I'm not interested. I'm leaving Legends of Tomorrow for whatever money the studio throws at me," Purcell wrote on Instagram. "It was an honor to play the role of DC's Mick Rory. I played it well and it would be hard for any actor in the world to do it better. But now is the time to step away and take it all in. Caity Lotz, Nick Zano, take care of the kids, they need an education. Tell them not to rely on studio loyalty. Studios don't care about that. It's the work ethic and talent of actors that gives them the confidence to question authority. Love you all."

Purcell plays Mick Rory/Heat Wave in Legends of Tomorrow and has partnered with Wentworth Miller, the star of Prison Break, in this film. Purcell first received the role of Heat Wave in The Flash and later became a regular character in Legends of Tomorrow. He also co-starred with Supergirl, Arrow, and Batgirl in Infinite Earth Crisis.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 will premiere on May 2, 2021, and many promotional materials still feature Purcell's heat wave footage.
